The IBBC February Challenge – Spin Test, Level 2
Alright everybody, for February, we’re taking it down a notch from the January Challenge, due to lack of people being able to squat, much less at twice their body weight. I understood that January’s challenge would be difficult for women, but guys (the male sex), come on! It is alarming that so many people ignore leg training, especially squats, probably due to the lack of understanding about the tremendous benefits of this king of lower body movements and the unfortunate beliefs in the prevalent fallacies. But more of that for another post…
So this month we will step it down by stepping it up.
The IBBC February Challenge – Spin Test, Level 2:
- Complete the spin test with the next heavier weight Bulgarian Bag.
- Spins test rules are as follows:
- You must perform 10 spins left x 10 spins right x 10 push-ups x 5 sets in under 3:30 minutes.
- The spins may be performed in either open or closed spin styles.
- PUSH-UPS MUST BE FULL-RANGE OF MOTION.
- The chest must touch the bag, then arms to full extension at the top of the movement. Repetitions that fail to meet the requirements given will not be counted.
- The knees cannot touch the ground during any portion of the push-up. If the knees touch the ground, the attempt will be disqualified.
- The Bulgarian Bag cannot be dropped or set down during any portion of the test. The only resting position is to set the bag on your shoulders to re-grip or rest. Placing the bag on the floor is only allowed for push-ups; any other placement of the bag on the floor will disqualify the spin test.
- Chalk is allowed; belts, gloves, straps, and other supportive equipment are not.
Normal Weight Classes for Spin Test Bag Weight
- Men (Over 165lb/75k) Large Bulgarian Bag
- Men (Under 165lb/75k) Medium Bulgarian Bag
- Women (Over 145lb/65k) Medium Bulgarian Bag
- Women (Under 145lb/65k) Small Bulgarian Bag
So where ever you fall in this chart, you need to use the next heavier bag. If you use a 37lb…that means you will be using the 50lb!
